Automation Engineer (Contract)
The Client

Location. Limerick, Ireland.
Role:
To work as part of a team and provide leadership as required in the generation of automation solutions and the delivery of next generation manufacturing technologies for cross segment supply chains within the organisation. This role will engage with key stakeholders and 3rd party partners as part of the innovation and ideation process to bring high level value propositions to the supply chain.
The ideal candidate will have extensive manufacturing automation experience across multiple industries and manufacturing processes including Medical devices and/or Pharma. They will have displayed progressive increasing levels of responsibility and leadership in delivering first class automation solutions.
Responsibilities:
Bring leadership, energy, knowledge, innovation, and delivery to the following:
- Provide first-class cost-effective automation solutions based on problem statements from cross sector and industry sources within the organisation’s family of companies.
- Project management, including obtaining agreement on project definitions and priorities and ensuring that resources, capabilities, and processes are in place for successful completion.
- Ensure that programs stay on plan by resolving resource conflicts and removing obstacles, which may involve negotiations at a senior level.
- Ensure that all project plans and strategies are supported with sound financial analysis and alignment to ATC business plans and objectives.
- Manage key automation partners for the development of flexible automated manufacturing systems.
- Establish effective working relationships and develop new partnerships to optimize product development with partners across the organisation.
- Formulate and recommend engineering policies and technical work in accordance with project objectives. Ensure that sound technical engineering concepts are applied.
- Maintain a network and open lines of communication with other technology teams across the organisation, ensuring awareness and alignment with key stakeholder needs and new technology developments.
- Lead and develop new value propositions that employ the latest technologies to bring increased efficiencies to the Johnson and Johnson manufacturing supply chain
- Maintain excellent communications with key stakeholders ensuring alignment between their needs and the planned project portfolio of the Advanced Technology Centre.

Experience and Education
You will be able to demonstrate a career progression with increasing responsibilities in the field of engineering, technology, and innovation.
The requirements are:
- Extensive manufacturing automation experience 15 plus years with minimum 5 years’ operating at Project Lead/manager level or equivalent ideally with expertise and working knowledge of mechanical design, robotics, and vision systems.
- Industry experience ideally within Pharmaceuticals, Medical Device, Consumer Goods or a related manufacturing engineering related sector.
- Technology, process and performance improvement experience across various production processes and industries.
- People and team management experience in an automation technology development and project delivery environment.
- Experience of managing projects with input from multiple stakeholders including cross-functional project delivery teams, to peers in other related functions, and networks of internal customers and global collaborative partner groups.
- Educated to a minimum Degree level or equivalent, in a relevant engineering, technology discipline.
- Relevant experience in industry and collaborative robotics, autonomous intelligent vehicles will be an advantage.
- Exposure to the world of IOT, Industry 4.0 and ROS technologies will be an advantage.
